“Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest!

Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!” Palm Sunday is the day when we commemorate the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem for the Passover feast.

But it wasn’t what the people expected. Instead of riding on a war horse with an army, Jesus comes in on a donkey colt. In Philippians, Paul reminds us that Christ‘s very nature is unexpected, “Though he was in the form of God, he did not consider being equal with God something to exploit. But he emptied himself by taking the form of a slave….” Paul wants the young church to claim its identity in witness and proclamation of who Christ is. Jesus chose to be obedient to the will of God and took the role of a servant. So too, each of us must decide who Christ is in us.
