2 Port Jefferson Seniors Named National Merit Finalists
Congrats to Ibuki Iwasaki and Luigia Than!

From the Port Jefferson School District: Earl L. Vandermeulen High School seniors Ibuki Iwasaki and Luigia Than have advanced to finalist standing in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
The two Port Jefferson School District academically talented students took the qualifying test as juniors and are now among approximately 15,000 high school students nationwide who were awarded the distinction. In the next several months, approximately half of those students will be selected to receive a Merit Scholarship award, which is based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments.
Both Iwasaki and Than are accomplished and well-rounded students. Their finalist designation exemplifies the district’s high level of student achievement and academically rigorous program for all students.

National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced in the spring.
