21-Year-Old Man Stabbed at Suffolk County House Party

Police broke up the party Saturday night, but a couple hours later, a crowd of more than 200 were back at the same house.

CORAM, NY - A 21-year-old man was stabbed at a house party that go out of control in Coram early Sunday morning.

The victim was stabbed in the abdomen and left arm around 1:15 a.m. at a home located at 6 Canterbury Drive, police said.

Accoridng to police, a 22-year-old woman, who lives at that address, organized a party at her house for Saturday and information was circulated on social media.

Sixth Precinct Police officers responded to the home at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday after complaints of a disturbance and loud music were received.

The officers dispersed the crowd and eliminated the disturbance, but about two hours later, a crowd of more than 200 people was back at the house. The party had grown beyond the resident's expectations and became disorderly, police said.

A 21-year-old man from Poughkeepsie attempted to control the crowd when he was approached by a male partygoer and a confrontation ensued, police said.

The verbal dispute between the men escalated into a physical altercation and the 21-year-old was stabbed. He suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect is described as a man in his early 20s with braided hair. He was wearing jeans and a plaid shirt.

Two arrests not related to the assault were made at the residence. A 19-year-old Miller Place man was charged with possession of marijuana and a 21-year-old Mastic Beach man was charged with second degree after he physically harassed a uniformed police officer, police said. Police did not release either of their names.

The assault investigation into the stabbing is ongoing and is a joint investigation between the Sixth Squad and the Sixth Precinct Crime Section, who will investigate a possible violation of the Suffolk County Social Host Law.
