6 Charged With Selling Alcohol To Minors During Investigation: PD

Police conducted an investigation into the sale of alcohol to minors after receiving complaints from the community.

TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN, NY - A total of six people were caught selling alcohol to minors at businesses within the Town of Brookhaven during an investigation on Saturday night, according to Suffolk Police.

In response to community complaints, officers conducted the investigation into the sale of alcohol to minors during which 17 businesses were checked for compliance with the law.

According to police, the following people were arrested during the investigation:

  • Nurettin Keskin, 45, of Brentwood, employed by Valero Gas Station on 1274 Middle Country Road in Selden
  • Buenaventura Benitez, 45, of Smithtown, employed at NY Food & Drinks on 2505 Middle Country Road in Centereach
  • Joseph Ragan, 18, of Coram, employed at Speedway Gas Station on 1445 Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station
  • Ervin Rhames, 21, of East Patchogue, employed at Speedway Gas Station on 501 Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station
  • German Estevez-Rodriguez, 40, of East Setauket, employed at Upper Main Deli on 1600 Main Street in Port Jefferson
  • Isaiah Tyler, 19, of Coram, employed at Speedway Gas Station on 1956 Route 112 in Coram

The six were charged with first degree unlawfully dealing with a minor, police said.

Eleven establishments within the Sixth Precinct complied and refused to sell alcohol to minors.

All six people arrested were issued Field Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on May 28.
