Dog Saved From Burning Apartment By Good Samaritan, Suffolk Cops

Thankfully, no one was injured, police say.

CORAM, NY — A dog's life was saved from a burning Coram apartment Sunday evening thanks to the efforts of two Suffolk police officers and a Good Samaritan.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting a child trapped in an apartment that was on fire on Pinewoods Crescent around 6:50 p.m. When they arrived, officers Anthony Martuccio and Justin Dimatteo learned everyone in the home safely exited, but the family dog was trapped in the upstairs apartment. The officers, joined by a Good Samaritan, entered the apartment complex, found the American Bulldog mix, and helped corral the animal so the Good Samaritan could take the dog to safety.

The dog was reunited with its family outside, and no one was injured. Arson Section detectives are investigating the cause of the fire.
