Four People Struck by Car in Port Jeff Station

A 19-year-old man was seriously injured, police say.

Port Jefferson Station, NY — Four people were struck by a car in Port Jefferson Station Thursday night, and one person was sent to the hospital with a serious head injury, police said.

According to police, 22-year-old Abdelkader Barka, of Port Jefferson Station, was driving a 2004 Mercedes Benz north on Jayne Boulevard, north of Greene Avenue, when he struck four pedestrians who were walking partially in the northbound travel lane around 9:25 p.m.

Two of the people hit, Jonathon Caba, 19, and Yaviel Calderon, 22, both of Port Jefferson Station, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via the Terryville Fire Department. Caba suffered a serious head injury.

Calderon was treated and released for a leg injury. Jerry Vargas, 18, of Port Jefferson Station, and Aneudi Dilone, 20, of Port Jefferson Station, refused medical aid.

Barka was transported to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital for treatment of a panic attack.

No criminal charges have been filed.
