PORT JEFFERSON, NY — The Port Jefferson School District Board of Education has appointed James Nolan to serve as the middle school’s interim principal, according to a news release from the district.

Nolan, a seasoned educator of over 33 years, began his career as an English teacher for both the Sachem and Kings Park school districts, and later served as the dean of students and middle school principal in Patchogue-Medford, district officials said. He returned to Sachem in roles as assistant principal and principal of Sachem High School North before taking the top position in the district as superintendent of schools, according to district officials.

Nolan’s “wealth of experience and knowledge led to postretirement service” at Baldwin and East Islip high school as interim principal and assistant principal, respectively, district officials said.
