Kevin Durk Elected Chairman of the Long Island Water Conference
Durk Also Serves as Director of Water Quality and Laboratory Services at Suffolk County Water Authority

Port Jefferson Station, NY (February 2, 2022)— The Long Island Water Conference (LIWC) has recently elected Kevin Durk of Suffolk County Water Authority (SCWA) to serve as the organization’s new chairman for 2022. Durk currently serves as Director of Water Quality and Laboratory Services at SCWA, and has more than thirty years of experience in the water industry. He is committed to leading Long Island’s water providers and navigating the challenges presented to the industry throughout the year.
“I am truly honored to have been selected by our members to lead this organization for the upcoming year,” said LIWC Chairman Kevin Durk. “Water is our most precious natural resource and an integral part of everyday life for all Long Islanders. Our residents will continue to be served only the highest quality water by our dedicated water providers.”
Kevin Durk, a resident of Port Jefferson Station, began at the SCWA in 1990 as a chemist, and has held multiple titles including Section Leader, Inorganic Laboratory Manager, and Laboratory Manager. He was promoted to his current position of Director of Water Quality and Laboratory Services in 2014. Durk has previously served as Vice Chairman for the LIWC in 2021, 2nd Vice Chairman in 2020, and Secretary in 2019. He is also a dedicated member of the American Water Works Association’s Water Quality Laboratory Committee. Durk received his B.S. in Engineering Chemistry from Stony Brook University. He is licensed through the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Environmental Laboratory Approval Program.

In addition to Chairman Durk’s election, three others were elected to the LIWC’s Board of Directors. John Kilpatrick, the Director of Engineering at Liberty Utilities, was named Vice Chairman. Jason Belle, Superintendent at the West Hempstead Water District, was named 2nd Vice Chairman. Lastly, Robert McEvoy, Commissioner of the Oyster Bay Water District, was named Secretary.
