Lessons on the Recorder at Edna Louise Spear Elementary School

From Syntax: Ms. Lisa Scrom's third-grade music classes at Edna Louise Spear Elementary School in the Port Jefferson School District had a special visitor when retired music teacher Donna Basile presented a workshop on the recorder to them.

All third-graders perform on the recorder and this was an opportunity to be introduced to the various sized musical instruments.

A longtime educator and an executive board member of the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association, Ms. Basile shared both the musical and historical significance of this early woodwind instrument, dating back to the Middle Ages.
