Man Killed in Port Jefferson Station Crash
The accident occurred on Route 112 early Sunday, police say.

A man was killed when he lost control of his SUV and crashed into a wooded area on Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station early Sunday morning, police said.
According to police, the man, who has not been identified pending notification to next of kin, was driving a gray 2004 Ford Explorer south on Route 112, near Washington Avenue, when he apparently lost control of the vehicle at about 4:20 a.m.
The SUV crossed into the northbound lane of travel, left the roadway and overturned in a wooded area, police said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
The crash occurred about 10 minutes before another fatal accident in Suffolk County. Police say an unidentified man was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban south on Horseblock Road in Brookhaven when his vehicle struck a tree on Montauk Highway at about 4:30 a.m. That driver was also pronounced dead at the scene. Anyone with information on that crash is asked to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
