Northwestern Mutual Financial Professional Earns $15,000 grant for Spectrum of Dreams

In the spirit of volunteerism, Northwestern Mutual, through its foundation, is recognizing Timothy Szlosek for his work with Spectrum of Dreams as a recipient of the company’s 2015 Community Service Award.
Szlosek, a wealth management advisor at Northwestern Mutual in Melville, New York, was chosen for his outstanding volunteerism, earning him a $15,000 grant for Spectrum of Dreams. The award identifies Northwestern Mutual financial professionals who demonstrate exemplary service with a local nonprofit and honors the organization with a grant on behalf of the volunteer’s work.
“With our son Shane as the inspiration, my wife and I are dedicated to helping Spectrum of Dreams create a positive and indelible mark on the lives of children and families with special needs,” said Szlosek. “Our goal, and what this grant will help fund, is equipping these children with tools to enhance their quality of life through extracurricular activities.”

Since 2013, Szlosek has been volunteering his time, efforts and resources to Spectrum of Dreams. He has helped raise funds for programs such as therapeutic horseback riding lessons, technology advancements, college scholarships to local schools and various other activities that benefit special needs children and their families.
“By dedicating his time, Timothy is having a direct effect on the health and well-being of the community,” said John Kordsmeier, president, Northwestern Mutual Foundation. “The commitment Timothy has made to giving back to others through Spectrum of Dreams is an example we can all learn from.”
