Board Members Sworn in at Meeting

Three members of the Port Jefferson Board of Education—one newly elected trustee and two reelected incumbents—took the oath of office at the district’s annual reorganization meeting on July 13.

Tracy Zamek raised her right hand and swore the oath read to her by district clerk Janice Baisley before she began her first term as trustee. Vincent Ruggiero and Mark Doyle were also sworn in by Baisley to begin their new terms.

“I’m very excited to work collaboratively with this group to create a better Port Jefferson education for these students,” said Zamek, who was elected to the board on May 19. “I’m glad to be a part of the team.”

The board reinstalled Board President Kathleen Brennan to her title role, and elected to appoint Mark Doyle as the board’s vice president.

“I’m looking forward to working with Ms. Brennan and I’m grateful to the board for electing me to this position,” Doyle said.

After the oaths, the board commenced with the meeting agenda, which included Executive Director for Curriculum and Instruction Maureen Hull’s presentation of the Spring 2015 School Report Card.
