Port Jefferson Middle Schoolers Excel In Math

Port Jefferson Middle School students participated in the 2019-20 New York Math League contest, with 11 of them receiving top scores.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Building interest and confidence are the goals for students who are challenged with Math League contests, and 11 Port Jefferson Middle School students received top scores when they participated in the 2019-20 New York Math League contest, the Port Jefferson School District said in a news release.

Sixth graders Elizabeth Campo, Kevin Hong, Max Kronberg, Christopher Nam, Victoria Snaden and Lucas Sweeney, and seventh graders Thales Cheng, Aoife Hogan, Josef Joyner, Ana Kelly and Evan Menaghan each received a certificate of merit for superior achievement on the online tests. They were commended by Principal Dr. Robert Neidig and middle school math teachers Meg Ryan and Jamie Veraldi for their efforts in continuing to develop an interest in mathematics through problem-solving activities like in these contests.
