The Port Jefferson School District congratulates Earl L. Vandermeulen High School freshman Mia Cormier for her artistic talents. She was recognized at the Oct. 12 board of education meeting. Mia’s work was featured on the school district’s 2021-22 calendar.

District Director of Music and Fine Arts Dr. Michael Caravello introduced Mia to the board members and spoke highly of her efforts last school year with the computer graphic digital landscape project under the guidance of Port Jefferson Middle School art teacher Stacey Schuman. Mia was presented with a framed copy of her artwork, and she and Ms. Schuman were both presented with certificates of appreciation.
