PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Jessica Schmettan was officially sworn into office as the superintendent of schools of the Port Jefferson School District on Oct. 31 by District Clerk Kathleen Hanley, the school district announced. Schmettan found herself surrounded by family, district staff and community members. Her term began on Nov. 1.After she took the oath, Schmettan thanked everyone in attendance for their support and commended retired superintendent Dr. Paul Casciano for his leadership in guiding the district to its current level of excellence, progress she is eager to continue.
