PORT JEFFERSON, NY - From Port Jefferson School District: Performing, leading and serving the community are just part of what the newly inducted students accomplish as part of the Earl L. Vandermeulen High School Chapter 2172 of the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
At its 11th annual honors recital and induction ceremony, six students joined their peers in the National Association for Music Education’s program that focuses on creating future leaders in music education and music advocacy.

In addition to showcasing the exceptional music program in Port Jefferson, these students met the high academic and musical standards necessary for induction into the honor society’s chapter.
“These students will assist in inspiring and recognizing musical achievement in the school music department and the community,” Dr. Michael Caravello, director of music and fine arts said. “Through the society’s five points of distinction: scholarship, character, cooperation, leadership, and service, they’ll continue to develop confidence, creativity and other skills that will benefit them in school and beyond.”
