Comsewogue baseball ended the season with a three-game series loss to Hills West. In fact the Warriors managed to score just two runs in the final three games, losing 6-0, 14-0 and 12-2 to finish the season with a 4-16 overall record.
“It was a kind of disappointing season,” said head coach Mike Bonura. “We hit the middle of the season where we lost a couple of close games to West Babylon and dropped a three-game series to them. Our defense was a problem all year. I’m not sure what exactly happened in the final series against Hills West. They got some good pitching and they really hit the ball well.”
Bonura isn’t sure which league the team will be next year but he believes that they will return to League V. “We return everybody next year except one player but if we are in either League IV or League V we have got to get better.”

Likewise, the softball team ended their season at the hands of Hills West dropping their finale to the League IV champions 6-1 on Friday. The Warriors could have packed the season in after they lost Hope Reindl to a heart attack in early May but the Warriors won one of their final three games and three of their last eight, knocking off Copiague 13-1 last Thursday as Meghan Zimbler won her fifth game of the year and emerged as a legitimate softball pitcher and a glimpse of what could be down the road. The Lady Warriors completed the season with a 5-15 overall record.
On a bright note the Warriors won four of their last 11 games since April 27 after opening the season 0-7 giving Comsewogue some hope for the 2012 season.
