Car Hits Trees, Bursts into Flames in Manhasset

The crash reportedly occurred Thursday night.

A car reportedly burst into flames after crashing head-on into trees on the side of Shelter Rock Road on Thursday night.

According to a post by congressional hopeful David Gurfein, he was walking along the road at around 10 p.m. when the car came “flying off the road,” heading directly for him.

Gurfein says he moved out of the way while the car continued to crash into several small trees and swerved back onto the road before coming to a stop.

The driver of the vehicle, an elderly woman, was reportedly uninjured from the crash and Gurfein says he helped her move away from the car before the vehicle burst into flames.

Nassau County Police and Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department Company #2 responded to the scene to put out the fire.
