Drug Packaging Maker Relocating To Port Washington

The company called its new Port Washington home efficient, modern and state-of-the-art.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — A Mineola company that makes packaging and small, folded leaflets for pharmaceutical drugs is relocating to West Shore Road in Port Washington.

The Mekkati Group signed a 10-year lease to take over a 57,000-square-foot industrial building on Harbor Park Drive, real estate developers said in a news release. Mekkati, which also has a manufacturing plant in Windsor, New Jersey, plans to add about 50 employees to its Nassau County workforce over the next two years.

Subin Varghese, CEO of The Mekkati Group, said the relocation gives the company an "efficient, modern, state-of-the-art facility perfectly suited to our upcoming business expansion."

Real estate developer BEB Capital acquired the property last year and invested millions to upgrade the 37-year-old building, including to its power and technology infrastructure. The plan was to prepare it to accommodate virtually any "high end use," Lee Brodsky, BEB CEO, said.

"It's 26-foot-high ceilings, five loading docs and proximity to transportation make it ideal for both manufacturing and distribution," he said.
