First Annual Kentucky Derby Party Comes to Port Washington
The event, hosted by the Port Washington Parent Resource Center, will feature a bluegrass band, mint juleps, a silent auction and more.
Grab your hats and your bow ties because the Kentucky Derby is coming to Port Washington next month.
The first annual Kentucky Derby Party will be hosted by Port Washington’s Parent Resource Center. Anyone is welcome to attend.
The Derby-style entertainment will include a bluegrass bland, mint juleps, southern fare, Derby-inspired games, raffles and a silent auction.

Remember to dress for the occasion: prizes will be given out to those with the best hat and bowtie.
The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24 at Manhasset Bay Yacht Club, 455 Main St.

Abigail Chromy and Janet Colon will be honored at the gala. Chromy is a past PRC board member and the creator of the Port Washington parents’ Yahoo group “portwparents.” Colon was a PRC teacher, who taught classes in art, music, movement, exploration and summer camp for over 10 years.
PRC will present more details about its partnership with North Shore LIJ at the gala.
Proceeds from the event will go to updating PRC facilities, which have not been updated in 20 years. PRC hopes the new modern facilities will keep the organization relevant and competitive in the upcoming years.
Buy tickets here. Tickets cost $100 per person before Friday, April 10 and $125 at the door.
