UPDATE: Port Washington Car Fire Deemed Suspicious, 3rd In Week

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Another Port Washington fire has been deemed suspicious, according to police. Flames engulfed a car in a driveway Thursday morning, destroying one car and damaging a second, police and fire officials told Patch.

Firefighters were called to Smull Lane and Jackson Street around 5:30 a.m. The original call came in from the homeowner. No one was hurt.

A spokesman for Port Washington police said the fire has been deemed suspicious, making it the third blaze to ignite under suspicious circumstances in less than a week.

Early Saturday, a hut belonging to Kostal Paddle burned to the ground in Manorhaven Beach Park. Then on Wednesday, firefighters found hay bales burning in the middle of a construction site off Ashwood Road. Developers are building homes on the property.

While all three are suspicious, Port Washington police are not saying they're related. All three are under investigation.
