Coach Virginia McMahon was pleased with her team's efforts. "That meet was huge," she said, referring to the sheer number of athletes. "It was really great for us — there were some other really big teams there."

Besides the Section VIII Relays, the team has competed in two quad meets so far this year, placing second out of four in each. "We have quad meets every Monday for the next few weeks," McMahon said. "Also Saturday is the Nassau Coaches meet in Westbury — another big meet."

Most exciting is the opportunity that seven of the girls will have to compete in an historic meet this week — the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. The meet will be held from Thursday, April 22, to Saturday, April 24, at Franklin Field on the University of Pennsylvania campus. Most of the high school girls' events will take place on Thursday.
