Landmark On Main Street To Host Virtual Lunar New Year Event
The Town is partnering with Landmark to host a week-long broadcast of its virtual Lunar New Year.

North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board are proud to announce that the Town will be partnering with Landmark on Main Street to host a week-long broadcast of its virtual Lunar New Year.
“In honor of the Year of the Ox, we are sharing this Lunar New Year program with our residents. We hope you join us for this celebration and enjoy these fantastic traditional performances,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “We are thankful that we were able to partner with Landmark on Main Street to help facilitate bringing these outstanding performances to our residents from the comfort and safety of their own homes.”
Performances will include: the Zhengming Zither guzheng ensemble; a Chinese drum solo; music and dance from Ba Ban Chinese Music Society of New York; a song performed by an iSchool of Music & Art voice student; Peacock Dance from the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company and a Kung Fu & Tai Chi performances from the Sitan Tai Chi & Martial Arts School. Several of the performances were recorded on stage at Landmark’s Jeanne Rimsky Theater, underwritten by the Glow Community Center and WAC Lighting
Landmark’s Lunar New Year Festival has grown since 2015 under the leadership of Community Affairs Manager Kellie Rentz-Bruneau to encompass a full day of crafts, food, music, and dance. “This year, of course, must be different from past years,” says Landmark Executive Director Laura Mogul. “We are so grateful to the Town of North Hempstead. They have made it possible for us to continue to share Chinese cultural traditions with our community.”
In addition to appearing on the Town's social media channels, all programs will be broadcasted on the Town’s award winning government access television station, North Hempstead TV (NHTV). Residents will be able to watch the programs on channel 18 or 63 on Cablevision and channel 46 on Verizon FIOS or by visiting: www.mynhtv.com.
Tune in daily on Thursday, February 11 through Sunday, February 14 at 4 p.m. to watch on NHTV. The program will also premiere on the Town’s Facebook page on Thursday, February 11 at 4 p.m.
