Menorah Lighting Set for Tuesday in Port Washington
The event marks the first night of Chanukah.

The Peter & Jeri Dejana Family Foundation and Chabad of Port Washington invite the entire Port Washington community to the kindling of Port Washington’s largest Chanukah Menorah, at the site of the LIRR on Main Street. The event will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 16, the first night of Chanukah, at 6 p.m. Supervisor Judy Bosworth will be honored to light the giant 14-foot Menorah, while elected officials, community leaders, adults and families from all backgrounds, enjoy the festivities.
This will be the 24th consecutive year that the giant Menorah is being lit at the LIRR location, ushering the Festival of Lights to our town.

The event is generously sponsored by the Peter & Jeri Dejana Family Foundation, an important foundation for Port Washington and beyond, graciously helping with an open hand and an open heart to benefit many of the social and communal activities in Port Washington.
Guests will be treated to goodies including chocolate gelt, dreidles, music & dancing. Everfresh Supermarket of Great Neck will provide the traditional holiday donuts and potato pancakes which will be served up to all in attendance. Starbucks will provide delicious hot coffee, and the first 200 guests will receive an event Chanukah scarf compliments of EmbroidMe of Williston Park, Michael & Adele Greif. A special thank you to the Maura Bros. for erecting the Menorah, and to Able Equipment Corp. for donating use of the lift for the entire 8 day festival.

Chabad would like to extend an invitation to the entire community, from all walks of life, regardless of race and religion, to come out and enjoy the festive evening, which has become an annual Port Washington tradition. This year, the event will be dedicated to the theme of Stand with Israel, saluting Israel and its people, standing by them during this difficult time.
