TOWN OF NORTH HEMPSTEAD, NY — The Town of North Hempstead building commissioner was suspended without pay for the month of June after he was accused of retaliating against an employee who filed a complaint against him, records show, Newsday reported.

John Niewender was suspended toward the end of a yearlong audit, Newsday reported. Niewender has held the role since 2014.
