Playtime Before the Big Game
Port Washington Children's Center held a Super Bowl Party for local children and their families.
The Port Washington's Children Center held its second annual Super Bowl Sunday event this morning. Donna Preminger, the center's exective director, with the help of her staff organized a breakfast and an hour of activities in the gym.
Close to 20 families took part in the event which brought them together as well as smiles to their faces. "Engaging families is very important," Preminger said. "You can't have a quality relationship without bringing families together. It doesn't stop with the children, it stops with the family."
The breakfast, which included bagels, cupcakes, brownies, cookies along with coffee and juice, took part in one of the center's clasrooms, but the culmination of the day was clearly the athletic activities.

First, everyone played "flag tag," a game where the goal is to grab as many flags as possible for the other participants. Then the parents and their children took part in numerous relay races including skipping, hopping and a race with small soccer ball in between their legs. After those activities, the parents and kids challenged one other in potato sack races, a scooter race and a race where each participant had to crawl through tunnels
The children and their parents played with enthusiasm throughout the day and are already looking forward to future events like this.
