Port Washington Man Arrested on Child Porn Charges

Port Washington police, DA's office team up with state police in investigation.

A Port Washington man was arrested Friday on child pornography and drug charges following the execution of a search warrant at his Middle Neck Road home, according to New York State police.

Over 100 images of child pornographic material were found on 27-year-old Colin H. Fitzpatrick's computer following a search by members of the New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit. Further investigation of the residence located approximately 10 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms and a small amount of marijuana.

Also taking part in the raid and investigation were the New York State Police SP Valley Stream Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Port Washington Police Department and the Nassau County District Attorney's office.

"It was the New York State police that made the arrest," said a representative of the Port Washington Police Department. "We simply joined them in the investigation." The department wouldn't comment any further on the arrest.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice added, "My office will continue to hunt down these sexual predators, prosecute them and put them behind bars where they belong. I want to thank both the Nassau County and State Police for their work on this case."

Fitzpatrick, an insurance salesman, was charged with possession of sexual performance by a child, second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was transported to Nassau County Detention and was arraigned on Feb. 6 at the Nassau County First District Court.

Any charges reported are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
