Schreiber Golf Undefeated at Halfway Mark
Team's 2010 campaign is going as planned as Vikings golf squad eyes conference title.
Following the Schreiber High School varsity golf team's season opening win at Wheatley Hills Golf Club, the team has gone on a tear. Through its first five matches, the team stands at 5-0 with five matches remaining.
Here's a rundown of the team's victories thus far this season:
April 6, 2010: Port Washington 7 – Wheatley 2 (at Wheatley Hills)

The varsity golf team opened its season with a 7-2 win over of Wheatley on April 6 at the Wheatley Hill Golf Club. Chris Yap, Ross Balaban, and Paul Tasnady each shot a 40 to lead the team. The rest of the team was comprised of Colin Davies, Andrew Seo and Peter Doscos. The Vikings' overall score was 204 while Wheatley shot a 219. The win was especially notable because two of the Vikings' top six golfers did not participate in this match.
April 12, 2010: Port Washington 9 – Oyster Bay 0 (at Sands Point)

The Vikings varsity golf team notched their second win of the season with a 9-0 win over Oyster Bay. Paul Tasnady led the charge with a team-low score of 40. Chris Yap and Jerry Lange each shot a 41 while Ross Balaban shot a 42 and Kelly Shon shot a 44. The team score was 208 for Port Washington to 271 for Oyster Bay.
April 15, 2010: Port Washington 6.5 – Plainview 2.5 (at Sands Point)
Record: 3-0
The Vikings kept their winning streak alive with a decisive win over Plainview. Port Washington was led by Kelly Shon, who shot a one-over par 37. Jerry Lange contributed with a two-over par 38. Chris Yap secured a point for Port winning his match and Ross Balaban added 1/2 a point tying his match. The team score was 209 for Port Washington to a 222 for Plainview.
April 19, 2010: Port Washington 8.5 – Wheatley 0.5 (at Sands Point)
Record: 4-0
Port Washington shot its best score at Sands Point Golf Club with 202 on this afternoon, led by Kelly Shon with a 37. Paul Tasnady shot a 39.
April 20, 2010: Port Washington 9 – Oyster Bay 0 (at Piping Rock)
Record: 5-0
In their best outing of the season, the Vikings shot a team-low 192. Kelly Shon shot an even par of 35, followed by Chris Yap with 37 and Ross Balaban and Jerry Lange with 39 each.
