The Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter is working on a project to protect the shelter dogs from harsh winter conditions.

The furry friends of the the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter will stay nice and toasty this winter thanks to a recent project that looks to protect the shelter dogs from harsh winter conditions.
The shelter, located at 75 Marino Ave., has undergone its latest stage of upgrades, which includes new electric heaters for outdoor kennels and zippered drop walls. The drop walls were put up in April and the electric heaters will be installed later in the year.
All of these improvements will be funded by a $45,000 grant from the Shelter Connection.
