Each pint can treat as many as five different patients.

All blood collected at the drive will be used by facilities in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens.
The demand for blood has gone up, but the donations have not been keeping up with the need, according to Long Island Blood Services. Each pint can treat as many as five different patients.
