Taylor Swift Writes Letter to Massapequa Girl Who Lost Her Mom
Swift's mother was recently diagnosed with cancer, which took the life of Kaileen Fox's mother in January.

A Massapequa girl who lost her mother in January received an inspirational letter from her favorite musician.
On Sunday, Kaileen Fox wrote a bittersweet Mother’s Day message to Taylor Swift on Tumblr.
Kaileen wrote that her mother had passed away over the winter and left her grief stricken for some time. However, Kaileen said that Swift’s music pulled her through the tragedy and that she would rely on her songs to get her through the difficult day.

“For a while, I felt empty. But as you’ve done many times before, you filled that hole,” she wrote in the blog post. “You took me out of my sad place and made me happy. And because of you, I got through something that was the hardest thing in the world for me.”
Swift, who constantly interacts one-on-one with fans on the website, responded with a heartfelt note.

“I love you so much and can’t imagine what you must be feeling today. You’ve lived through my worst fear. I’m so sorry you can’t spend today with her. It’s not fair, and there’s no reason why you should feel okay about it. No one should ever expect you to feel normal today.”
Swift revealed last month on Tumblr that her own mother, Andrea Finlay, had been diagnosed with cancer. Kaileen’s mother, Crissy, died in January after her own battle with cancer.
“I admire and respect your ability to put forth such a sunny, sweet disposition when you’ve been through something so dark and tragic so recently,” she wrote. “Sending you a huge hug today.”
