Vikings Lacrosse Finishes Strong in Season Finale
Boys varsity lacrosse has dominating 19-5 win over Valley Stream Central to head into playoffs with a head of steam.
In an easy victory, the Schreiber boys varsity lacrosse team defeated the Valley Stream Central Eagles, 19-4, in Thursday's game at Firemen's Field.
It was a pleasant way for the Vikings (6-5 Conference I, 9-6 overall) to end their regular season before the Conference I playoffs start next Thursday.
At halftime, the Vikings led 12-1 behind a well-balanced offense. Jake Froccaro led the way with five goals, followed by Owen Caruso with three and one a piece from Brandon Henne, Eric Lewis, Jon Keren and John Crawley in the first half.

"As always, our offense was very strong today," said junior defenseman Robbie Jordan. "They did a great job."
The second half was more of the same, even though the Vikings sat their regulars, giving other players who haven't seen much action some much-needed playing time. Schreiber still outscored Valley Stream Central, 7-3, in the final two periods leading to the Vikings 19-5 victory.

"We did nicely and we're going to take this win and build on it so we can go into the playoffs on a high," coach Joe Mascaretti said.
The Vikings players anticipated the Thursday's win, but said they are well aware that the big win doesn't guarantee of future success in the playoffs.
"We have a whole week to prepare so hopefully we'll be ready," said Crawley, a freshman attacker.
A meeting with all Conference I varsity coaches will take place on Friday night to determine the playoff schedule. The Vikings are tentatively scheduled for a road game next Thursday.
Senior defenseman Jack Vigilis said, "We can't wait to hear who we're playing."
