Vikings Lacrosse Loses in OT to Quakers
Boys varsity lacrosse loses 8-7 in sudden death to Friends Academy on the road.
Thankfully it didn't count.
After four quarters of hard fought lacrosse action, the Schreiber Vikings varsity lacrosse team remained tied at seven with the Friends Academy Quakers. The game was a literal deadlock. Tied at two after the first, four at the half, five following the third and at seven when the fourth quarter was complete. Next goal wins. But it wasn't meant to be for the Vikings in non-league action at Friends Academy.
Just 2:21 into overtime, Quentin Dellafera scored his second goal of the afternoon to win it for Friends Academy (2-1 Conference IV, 7-2 overall) 8-7 in sudden death.

John Lewis added, "You can't win every game. Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes it eats you."
Breig Bevilacque led the Vikings with three goals and one assist while Froccaro added three assists to his game-tying goal. Patrick Burke had three goals for Friends Academy in the win.
"Friends Academy was well organized, well coached and was the better team today," coach Joe Mascaretti said.
It was such a tightly contested and well played game that even the small cadre of Port Washington parents in the crowd vocalized their astonishment with level of play.
"We played an evenly matched team and it was a great game," Joe Mele said.
Cindy Jordan added, "I thought we played well. It couldn't have gotten tighter than this."
The Vikings will get back on the field at Schreiber High School on Wednesday in a Conference I league contest with Freeport scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
