What's Open, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day
A rundown of the holiday openings and closings around Port Washington.

Monday is Christmas Eve, traditionally a day filled with a final flourish of holiday rushing followed by an evening of family and friends.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, is Christmas Day, a national holiday. Here's a rundown of what's opened and what's closed over the next two days in Port Washington.
Christmas Eve (Monday, Dec. 24):

- Retail stores: Most are open, but until 6 p.m. Most stores will close around then.
- Supermarkets, liquor stores: Open, but supermarkets may close early.
- Convenience stores: Most are open.
- Bars and restaurants: Most open.
- New York financial markets: Close at 1 p.m.
- Banks: Most are open, but many close early.
- Post office: Regular mail delivery will take place but last mailbox collections will be at noon.
- LIRR: Has added one train on the Port Washington Branch, at 3:40 p.m. stopping at Woodside, Flushing-Main St., then all stops to Port Washington.
Christmas (Tuesday, Dec. 25):
- Retail stores: Closed.
- Supermarkets. Some open for limited hours on Christmas.
- Convenience stores: Most are open.
- Garbage: No pickup in the Port Washington Garbage District.
- Restaurants: Most Chinese and other Asian-cuisine restaurants in Port Washington and the surrounding area are open, part of a long-standing tradition on Long Island.
- Banks and financial markets: Closed.
- All state, federal and local governmental offices, including the post office: Closed.
- LIRR: Operating a holiday schedule.
- Movie Theatres: Open. Several major U.S. premiers take place Tuesday.
