23rd Annual Bwa Kayiman Celebration!

Gran Bwa Culture Presents: 23rd Annual Bwa Kay Iman Celebration. SATURDAY AUGUST 10th, 11:00am to 9:00pm.

Bwa Kay Iman: an important slave social gathering that took place on August 14th, 1791 that began the Haitian Revolution. It is celebrated every year on August 14th in Haiti and the diaspora as a reminder of the
importance of its role in our history. Members of the growing Gran Bwa family have organized this cultural gathering in Prospect Park to mark this date every year since 1990. We celebrate Bwa Kay Iman through fine arts, drumming, traditional Haitian Folklore dance and storytelling.

WE are reaching out to everyone in the community of all age groups and cultures to partake in this great annual celebration. We are providing a series of hands-on workshops in the natural setting of Prospect Park, creating an opportunity for Haitians to reconnect with their culture and for the general community to learn about Haiti’s culture.
