BROOKLYN, NEW YORK --- B train service was shut down abruptly during rush hour Tuesday morning as the MTA investigated a broken rail on the Manhattan Bridge, officials said.
The MTA halted B train service in both directions between Coney Island in Brooklyn and Bedford Park Boulevard in the Bronx around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, the agency announced on Twitter.
D train service was shut down in both directions between Broadway Lafayette in Manhattan and 36th Street in Brooklyn, and southbound trains stopped on the F line between West Fourth Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan, then stopped, said the MTA.

Straphangers took to social media to describe half-hour delays in freezing temperatures.
We have a B train that's been sitting here at church Ave for half an hour, you can't reroute it somewhere?

You need to get with whoever is making announcements because you're not telling the same story!!! We were just told D trains would be stopping at DeKalb!

We have sat on this B at Church Av for over a half hour. This us unacceptable. Your platform announcements are still claiming the b will run on the q line. When are you gonna start reimbursing us or giving us express bus transfers

The MTA warned passengers to expect residual delays on the D, F, Q, N and R lines.
