Bucky Returns
8pm- Big Chord 5
http://www.jonlundbom.com/
Guitarist, composer, and bandleader Jon Lundbom resides in Brooklyn. He leads Jon Lundbom & Big Five Chord, with which he has released five albums. Their latest, "No New Tunes," is now available from New York City's Hot Cup Records for download exclusively from www.jonlundbom.com. And a limited-run vinyl edition of "No New Tunes" is available now!
Jon's music - described as "Hardbop + Zeppelin + Schoenberg" (Dave Madden, 'SLUG') - is a showcase for his "intense phrasing and mind-altering solo spots" (Glenn Astarita, 'All About Jazz'), a "boundary-shattering shot of adrenaline that screws with your head and messes with your soul" (Jordan Richardson, 'The Seattle PI'). Jon has been called "an idiosyncratic genius harboring boundary-stretching notions in his musical make up" (CJ Bond, 'JazMuzic.com'); "hopefully Lundbom will start getting more attention for his fresh perspective, both as a writer and player" (Mike Shanley, 'ShanleyOnMusic'), "[Jon's playing brings] new ideas to what jazz guitar can be" (Paul Acquaro, 'Free Jazz Blog'); "Big Five Chord, individually and collectively, is one of the most important [ensembles] around today" (Grego Appelgate Edwards, 'Gapplegate Guitar and Bass Blog').
9pm- Bucky Hayes

Genre: Jazz/Blues/Folk
For fans of: Coltrane/Leadbelly/Buena Vista Social Club
Rising saxophone star Ben Flocks has earned critical acclaim performing at the Bern, Umbria, and Monterey Jazz Festivals. He has performed with Joshua Redman, and toured with Dave Brubeck as a Brubeck Institute Fellow in 2007. A native of Santa Cruz California, Flocks grew up immersed in music, attended the Stanford Jazz Workshop (where he now teaches.) While influenced by the classic saxophone triumvirate of Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, and John Coltrane, Flocks's own music reflects a creative mix of jazz, Brazilian, folk, blues, reggae, and funk. Battle Mountain is his debut album, featuring music inspired by his hometown.
“Ben Flocks is one of the most talented musicians I’ve met. His organic approach to improvising and creative spirit is truly inspiring. Ben plays with a soulfulness and maturity that’s beyond his years and I’m excited to see him continue to develop his voice.” – Donny McCaslin
