FOUND! Best Chinese take-out in the neighborhood
When I moved to Prospect/Crown Heights I was determined to find a Chinese take-out go-to spot. Seven months later I finally found it.

Months had passed since I first moved to the neighborhood and I was still without a default Chinese restaurant for delivery and take-out. When I communicated my frustration to neighbors they too felt the same way. So I decided to hunker down and find the best Chinese in the 'hood. It may have taken seven months, but it was well worth the wait!
In trying to isolate my favorite I created my default take-out order and noticed that my favorites were staples in every Chinese take-out joint. When I can't muster the energy to cook I immediately go for my take-out bin and cast everything but Chinese menus aside. All I need to make me happy is an order of steamed meat dumplings, a fried egg roll, and moo shu and I am good to go. So as long as these restaurants had these dishes, I could make an informed decision!
I tried every dumpling, egg roll and order of moo shu that could be found in this area hitting up New Ho Wong Kitchen (on Franklin between Park and Sterling), Dragon House (on Washington between Eastern Parkway and Lincoln), New Peking (on Franklin and Union), Happy Wok (Franklin and St. Johns), Hood Hang (on Underhill between St John and Sterling), and No. 1 Chinese Restaurant (on Washington between Sterling and Park Place). Ironically enough it wasn't until last month that I finally tried Golden Chopstick (a block away) and realized my search could have ended months ago!

With one mouth to feed I found my dumpling, egg roll and moo shu order from Golden Chopstick could always feed a family of four! Each order of steamed dumplings I've had comes out super flavorful, piping-hot, rich, juicy, and mouthwatering. No trace of rubbery skin or awful fillers, just straight up dumpling deliciousness. The accompanying side has quite a kick to it but perfect compliments the plump dumplings!
Golden Chopstick performs magic on their egg rolls... how do they manage to get them so deliciously crispy (and thick) on the outside without being crazy greasy? In the words of the Tootsie Roll owl...."the world will never know!" My only problem is that I may need to invest in my own spicy hot mustard as the packets they offer are too liquidy and rarely pack a punch.

Moo Shu is one of those dishes that never gets old. I mean who doesn't like to create their own little Chinese burrito for themselves? As a kid I couldn't wait to create a moo shu masterpiece and to this day I sitll get excited! Most moo shu is oily, but again Golden Chopstick defies the expectation and delivers a vegetable and meat filled saute for you to slather hoisin on and wrap in a thin spring roll paper or crepe. Being just me most of the time I find that I had Moo Shu for days but pancakes for one seating....so make sure to order more pancakes!
In addition to taking credit cards (huge plus in an area where cash is king), Golden Chopstick is open late, and have their own website! In my research I ordered take-out and delivery many times and found that delivery is sometimes faster than take-out (faster during the week for the record)! So as long as you make the $8 minimum (which isn't hard to do), you can have your dinner in no time!
My default dinner at Golden Chopsticks comes to just under $15 and gives me food to last for days. So if you too feel lost without a solid Chinese delivery and take-out go-to...look no further than Golden Chopstick!
