Loving Lincoln Station

New Coffee/Upscale Diner Lincoln Station offers delicious food to eat-in or take away, a great coffee bar (with beer to come soon) and will become our great cozy neighborhood go-to.

It’s been only a few weeks and I’ve already become addicted to Lincoln Station. Immediately upon its opening I ventured in no less than four times in its first week. First, I went with a coffee, then graduated the second day to a muffin and a latte, then figured it was time to give their sandwiches a try, and finally ended the first week with one of their rotisserie chickens to eat at home.

From day one it’s been a hit in the neighborhood. Every time I walk by it’s comfortably packed with our neighbors of all kinds...from families with smiling kids, to people old and young and single and coupled. When Bar Corvo opened up last year it helped to put us on the map and it’s their second location in the area that helps reinforce how great Crown Heights (it’s neighbors and businesses) is to live, work and play.

It’s a wonderfully charming place that offers free WIFI (for computer use at the hi-top communal table that lies dead smack in the middle of the place), the best soy lattes in the neighborhood (sorry Glass Shop), a variety of delicious specialty sandwiches (the roast chicken is to die for), a small but essential pantry to purchase items for at home cooking, and a variety of pre-made dishes to take home for a quick meal. The place emits the most wonderful smells that beckon you to order something or enter from outside.

Lincoln Station is ½ coffee shop and ½ upscale diner. The food options run the gamut from take home lasagna al forno and mac & cheese to french fries, baked goods (croissants, muffins, cookies and brownies), cold salads (carrot and shallot, farro salad, and braised kale), braised lamb shanks, sandwiches and chicken stocks. You can’t not find something to eat and love here...seriously.

My favorite sandwich of there is the roast chicken with parsley, capers, red onion and garlic on a fresh ciabatta roll. Every bite is heaven.... the chicken is tender and juicy with a delicate flavor and a mixed garnish that perfectly complements the freshness of the bread and chicken. I let the juices from the garnish run out, coating my fingers, and when I am at my last bites, I sop up the liquid with my remaining pieces of ciabatta. I haven’t had every sandwich (yet) but in looking at the sandwiches pass by you will notice the attention to detail with the bias-cut vegetables, when you order you can taste the delicate balance of flavors and when you are waiting you can smell their greatness.

Lincoln Station is no more than a minute walk door to door from my apartment and I’ve found myself starting my morning with a coffee and my laptop and going straight through to lunch with their roast chicken sandwich.

Whether it’s a stop en route to the train for your morning coffee, a quick lunch, a place to socialize, work or to get your dinner for the night.... Lincoln Station has something for everyone in this neighborhood.

In fact I can say with complete confidence that it’s become my favorite place in the area. The community they have created is wonderfully charming; Jake (the owner) greets me with a smile and chat every visit, the staff is always super friendly and fun, and I’ve struck up casual conversations with my fellow seatmates, which have turned into newfound friendships. I am completely in love with this place and everyone in it.... check out Lincoln Station for yourself and you will too!

Lincoln Station is located at 409 Lincoln Place, between Classon and Washington Avenues in Crown Heights. 718-399-2211
