Brooklyn Halloween 2018: Where To Dress Up And Get Down

Here are Brooklyn's most terrifying parties, parades and masquerades.

BROOKLYN, NY — It's that time of year when we get down and get spooky. We can't help you pick a costume, but we can recommend a few places where you and your toilet paper mummy-loving self will be welcome.

Here's where to go, and what you need to know.


Halloween at the House Of Yes
Neighborhood:
Bushwick
What: House of Yes will host a weeklong celebration that includes hallucinations, resurrections, a blood night and zombie prom.
Where: House of Yes at 2 Wyckoff Ave.
When: From Oct. 19 through Nov. 2

Red Hook Harvest Festival at Red Hook Community Farm
Neighborhood:
Red Hook
What: The Red Hook Community Farm will host apple bobbing, pumpkin carving contents and even a hot pepper challenge.
Where: Red Hook Community Farm at Columbia and Bay streets
When: Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.


Halloween Haunted Walk + Fair
Neighborhoods:
Prospect Park
What: This will be the 39th annual haunted walk in Prospect Park and kids of all ages are invited to show off their costumes. There will also be an after party at City Point in downtown Brooklyn.
Where: Nethermead in Prospect Park
When: Oct. 27 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

18th Annual Fort Greene Park Halloween Festival
Neighborhood:
Fort Greene
What: This Halloween Festival returns will bring a pumpkin patch, face-painting, train rides and more to Fort Greene Park
Where: Fort Greene Park near the corner of DeKalb Avenue and Washington Park
When: Oct. 27 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.


Halloween At Threes
Neighborhood:
Gowanus
What: This local bar is demanding you "Put down your pumpkin spice latte and suit up." There will be tarot cards readings, screaming contest, special snacks from The Meat Hook, and, of course, a costume contest.
Where: Threes Brewing at 333 Douglass St.
When: Oct. 27 from 7 p.m. to midnight


Fulton Hell
Neighborhood:
Fort Greene
What: This party comes with a potential payout: owner of the best costume wins free beer for a year.
Where: Fulton Hall at 250 Ashland Place
When: Oct. 27 at 10 p.m.


13th Annual Halloween Party and Parade
Neighborhood:
Columbia Street Waterfront District (a.k.a. that place that's not quite Red Hook, not quite Carroll Gardens)
What: Let your kids strut their costumed stuff.
Where: Mother Cabrini Playground at President and Van Brunt streets
When: Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.


Greenpoint Halloween Parade, Spooktacular Party & Zombie Nerf War 2018
Neighborhood:
Greenpoint
What: Costumed kids of all all ages are invited to march up and down Manhattan Avenue toward the Polish Slavic Center for a "Spooktacular Party."
Where: Polish & Slavic Center at 176 Java St.
When: Oct. 28 from noon to 6 p.m.


15th Annual Haunted House Crawl
Neighborhood:
Bedford-Stuyvesant
What: Tour the creepiest and most haunted homes in Bed-Stuy.
Where: Maps handed out at “The Haunted Garden” on Hancock Streeet between Marcus Garvey and Throop avenues, “The Frightful Photos and Thriller Dancemob” on MacDonough Street and Stuyvesant Avenue, and the Petrified Park at Putnam and Patchen avenues.
When: Oct. 31 at 4 p.m.


2nd Annual Thriller Dance Party on Myrtle Avenue
Neighborhood:
Clinton Hill
What: A block party that leads up to a group dance of Michael Jackson’s "Thriller." Seriously.
Where: Myrtle Avenue Plaza at 536 Myrtle Ave.
When: Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.


Boos in the Borough: A Brooklyn Historical Halloween
Neighborhood:
Brooklyn Heights
What: The Brooklyn Historical Society will host an evening of ghost stories straight outta Brooklyn and a costume contest for ghouls.
Where: Brooklyn Historical Society at 128 Pierrepont St.
When: Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.


Annual Park Slope Halloween Parade
Neighborhood:
Park Slope
What: Come check out the biggest parade in the borough.
Where: The parade starts at 14th Street and Seventh Avenue, heads north on Seventh Avenue, turns left on Third Street and ends in J.J. Byrne Playground at the Old Stone House.
When: Oct. 31 at 6:30 p.m.


Wine And Crime Podcast (Live)
Neighborhood:
Gowanus
What: Come listen to a live taping of Wine & Crime, a new true crime podcast where three ladies with Minnesota accents drink wine and discuss their favorite murders.
Where: The Bell House at 149 Seventh St.
When: Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
