Brooklyn Public Library Closes Doors Over Coronavirus
The closure will last at least through March 31 as officials look to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — Brooklyn Public Library's branches will be quieter than they have been in years, thanks to the new coronavirus.
The library system is closed until at least March 31, officials announced late Sunday. The closure happened in a flurry of other shutdowns decided that day, from schools to bars and restaurants.

"All library materials that had been checked out or renewed with a March 1 to March 31 due date have been automatically extended to April 6 to prevent the accrual of fines," the library's announcement stated.
Librarians will work to quickly add to the system's extensive digital offerings which feature online newspapers, video story times, e-books, magazines, language lessons, among other things, the announcement stated.
