Brooklyn's Library, Historical Society Plan Merger: Report
The planned merger will combine the massive archives of Brooklyn Public Library and the Brooklyn Historical Society, according to a report.
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — The massive historical archives of two Brooklyn institutions could soon blend together, according to a report.
Brooklyn Public Library and the Brooklyn Historical Society plan to merge, the New York Times first reported. Their respective boards this week OK'd a plan to make the library the society's parent institute, the Times reported.
The merger doesn't Brooklyn Historical Society's headquarters will move from its landmark Brooklyn Heights building, the report stated. In fact, that building's collection will swell as it takes in the library's Brooklyn Collection of more than 200,000 books, photographs and other documents, according to the report.

That move likely will open up space in the library's Central Branch off Grand Army Plaza, according to the Times.
