Crown Heights Rooftop BB Gunman Was YouTuber Making Movie: Report
Watch NYPD video showing suspect Chenhan Jiang, 24, fiddling with camera and holding BB gun on roof moments before his arrest Tuesday.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A BB gun-toting man's antics on a Crown Heights rooftop were part of a self-filmed movie, according to a report.
But Chenhan Jiang, 24, apparently looked a little too threateningly real Tuesday morning, authorities said. Police swarmed a Rogers Avenue rooftop after frightened witnesses described seeing a man clad in all black, wearing a tactical helmet and displaying what looked like a high-powered firearm, authorities said.
A NYPD helicopter flew overhead and caught a man dressed in tactical gear pointing a gun, according to a Twitter video. But look closer at the video — the man is doing it in front of a camera.

Real or Fake? This NYPD Aviation footage captured what a 911 caller reported earlier today in Brooklyn. It was only an Airsoft rifle and the male was safely taken into custody by ESU. @NYPDnews pic.twitter.com/y7hD0lYLOR

Jiang is a YouTuber and his rooftop moviemaking spurred the whole hullabaloo, ABC7 first reported.
Police arrested Jiang after a massive response that involved street closures, special tactical officers and swirling helicopters. They discovered his weapon was an Airsoft rifle — essentially a very realistic-looking BB gun, authorities said.

NYPD officers arrested Jiang — who lived about a block away from the Rogers Avenue and Bedford Avenue building where the fracas unfolded — on a long list of charges. Those are:
- Reckless endangerment
- Obstruction of government administration
- Criminal possession of a weapon
- Menacing
- Disorderly conduct
Jiang had yet to be formally charged with anything as of Wednesday morning.
