"The male on the roof was safely taken into custody and was in possession of a Airsoft rifle," NYPD's Specials Ops on Twitter.

Airsoft guns shoot BBs or pellets and can look identical to actual firearms. They often trigger reports that draw large numbers of police, as NYPD emergency teams did Tuesday in Crown Heights.

At least one other helicopter was NBC's Chopper 4, which captured footage of police officers taking the man into custody on the rooftop.

Preliminary information states the incident centered around 19 Rogers Ave., which houses Fort Greene Council Grant Square neighborhood center.

Police were still questioning the man as of Tuesday afternoon and had no inkling yet of his motivation, if any, authorities said. No charges had been filed either.
