The Deutsch/Soffiato Duo plays co-written music specifically for trumpet and guitar. The duo setting allows for a level of transparency, interaction, and sonic exploration which can be lost in larger ensembles. Josh and Nico have created a book of original music, borrowing from some of their favorite classical, jazz, electronic, and pop ideals, balancing carefully crafted compositions with space for exciting improvisation and interaction. Rhododendron was put together in the Spring of 2011 by drummer Nico Dann as a way of making-official a group of musicians that had already been playing together regularly.
