Jim Greene + Thomas Brian Eaton & Hobson's Choice@ The Way Station

9pm
Jim Greene is a singer, bass player, and song writer who grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, a town with a rich musical history. Music took him to NYC, where he lived for over a decade playing stand-up bass, touring and recording with other musicians. His band The Delegates, which included Neal Sugarman from Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, received critical as well as popular acclaim. Other credits include performing and recording with The Flying Nuetrinos, Ron Sunshine and Ian Hendrickson-Smith among many others. An extended stint in Nashville found him lending his talents to songwriters such as Mike Younger and Jody Nardone. Subsequently, time spent New Orleans with the likes of Anders Osborne, Delfeayo Marsalis and Ingrid Lucia gave him further musical depth. During the time in Nashville, Jim recorded his first record of his own songs. Years of being either a sideman or singing other peoples words infused his own music with the poetry, strength, and poise that is only found in a seasoned world wise musician. One that has lived life, and has a story to tell about it.
These are the songs that Jim sings now, having returned to NYC. The words and music are thick with stories and evoke moods and places that we all seem to know, or want to visit. Influenced by folk-rock writers like John Hiatt, Jackson Browne and John Prine, Jim's music draws on this tradition of Americana while maintaining a strong modern sound. His themes of home, family, and longing are woven together to form narratives about life, love, and survival.
Currently, Jim is living and writing in Brooklyn NY, where he performs every Monday at The Way Station as well as other venues. He freelances on acoustic and electric bass, and is working on his next songwriter record to be released later this year.

Thomas Brian Eaton & Hobson's Choice

On the first day of Spring, with the night holding a full moon; Thomas Bryan Eaton was born. Shortly there after, he sat down at a piano for the first time and fell in head over heels with the magic of sound. A lover of music in all its forms; Thomas can play pretty much anything that makes noise, but likes to spend his time wandering around the frets of a guitar and singing songs with nice melodies. Playing either solo or with his band Hobson's Choice, a rootsy rock 'n' roll band reminiscent of The Rolling Stones, Dylan, and the best parts of The Grateful Dead; Thomas mixes infectious tunes, three part harmonies and blistering guitar work to get you out of your seat and onto the dance floor.
