SLEEPWALK - Neo-classical surrealist collages by Michael Marwit.
Michael Marwit's newest collage series is cut from 15th–18th century engravings, combined with abstracted and manipulated photographs. The collaged images are then scanned, enlarged and screen printed. They are meant to look like solid drawings and not be obvious “collages” taking perspective and dimension into consideration to create a playful, surreal and timeless image. This new series was inspired by Max Ernst’s collage novel Une Semaine De Bonté and the collage boxes of Joseph Cornell, amongst other masters of the surrealist form.
