Local Medical Leaders Break the Silence of Below-the-Belt Cancers during GYN Cancer Awareness Month
Globe-athon to End Women's Cancers will host Health Care Symposiums and free screenings for GYN cancers in September
Below the belt cancers are silent, yet deadly diseases that affect millions of women each year. They account for 16% of all new cancer cases and 14% of cancer deaths each year. They can be easy to overlook as most women don’t understand the symptoms or are embarrassed to speak about them with a doctor.
During GYN Cancer Awareness Month this September, an international movement is helping to break the silence around these cancers by empowering women to take charge of their health.
Globe-athon to End Women’s Cancers will host Health Care Symposiums on GYN cancers for men on Sept. 25 and for women on Sept. 26 at the House of the Lord Church. Led by local GYN oncologists, these symposiums will provide information about below-the-belt cancers and offer free screening tests to all women.
