Meredith Dobbs + Jonny Meyers & the Trio + DecaDence @ The Way Station

8pm- Meredith Dobbs
Genre:  indie pop rock
For fans of: Paul McCartney/ Coldplay/ Johnny Cash/ Cat Power

Meredith Dobbs is a singer/songwriter originally from Rockwall, Texas, who now calls Brooklyn home.  She grew up as a classically trained pianist and started writing her own original music when she "discovered" The Beatles at 14.  She would describe her sound as "poppy, not preppy, breathy, not sweaty, and soulful, not mournful."   Her indie pop/rock is inspired by Paul McCartney's memorable melodies and John Lennon's profound sensibilities. Meredith's current projects include playing shows around the US and recording a new album.

9pm- Jonny Meyers & the Trio
Genre: Cosmic American Music
For fans of: Gram Parsons, Fats Domino, Steve Cropper

Song by song, Jonny Meyers is catching up with the traditions left quietly behind in his native Forest Hills – the small hub of Queens, which provided the breeding grounds for legendary songwriters like Paul Simon, Burt Bacharach, and the founding members of The Ramones. Meyers’s catalogue to date is a careful representation of romantic city living that reflects the lyrical, topical, and raw emotional traces of his predecessors.  Jonny’s trio provides a backing for his tunes, combining Jonny’s guitar work with pedal steel, upright bass and drums.  Jonny has put out records under several bands (The Stingers, RokkaTone, Grand Concourse) with genres ranging from traditional ska to calypso street bands, but the Trio’s debut album, kindly described as Cosmic American Music, is under Jonny’s own name and due for release in summer 2014.

Dahlia Dumont and her band DecaDence play reggae sultry ballads, tango, samba, and more in both French and English. The music brings out the different faces of the accordion, with French, Argentine, and TexMex influences fused in.
