Moving Pictures: The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover + Comedy: I Got a Bad Felling About This + Nerd Karaoke @ The Way Station
4pm- Moving Pictures: Hand-picked entertainment on the big screen each Sunday evening at the Way Station. Always new Doctor Who when it's in season, and often paired with something appropriate (a classic episode featuring the same villain, prior episodes of character's story arc, etc). Off-season it's favorite episodes from past years, or other tv shows & films, often falling into the sci-fi or British comedy genres.
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover
Helen Mirren stars as the wife of a barbaric crime boss (Michael Gambon) who carries on an affair in between meals at the extravagant restaurant Le Hollandaise. What follows is a blackly comic tale of sex, fine dining, and revenge. Peter Greenaway's infamous and controversial film was threatened with an X rating when it was first released 15 years ago, and it continues to shock and mesmerize audiences today. Co-starring Tim Roth, Ciaran Hinds, punk legend Ian Dury, and Alex Kingston aka River Song with costumes by Jean-Paul Gaultier and music by Michael Nyman. WARNING: You will need a strong stomach to attend."
